Ronald Pizzoferrato is a freelance documentary photographer from Caracas, Venezuela but now based in Bern, Switzerland. He has consecrated himself to document conflicts in his native country Venezuela and focuses upon covering humanitarian crises and social issues on a global level. From 2009 to 2011 Pizzoferrato studied documentary photography at Roberto MataTaller de Fotografía in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2012 he started working as a photojournalist for the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialsm and Waters (M.I.N.E.A) in Venezuela where the main focus was targeted on the social field such as documenting minorities, social work and community activities. He left M.I.N.E.A. in 2013 to move to Bern, Switzerland. In 2017 Pizzoferrato was named as a winner by AI-AP for Latin American Fotografía 6. In the same year he was selected within a call for proposals of Cantonale Berne Jura for an exposition of his works at Photoforum Pasquart in Biel and Kunsthaus Langenthal in Switzerland. Furthermore his photographs have been exhibited in solo shows, at such places as Librería Lugar Común in Caracas, Venezuela, Museo de los Llanos in Barinas, Venezuela, and Museo de la Estampa y el Diseño Carlos Cruz Diez in Caracas, Venezuela. Pizzoferrato is a guest lecturer at Hochschule der Künste Bern and teaches photography workshops for children and teenagers of socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Caracas, Venezuela.
